Description
This easy homemade peach crisp is a comforting dessert featuring sweet, tender peaches baked under a golden, buttery oat topping. Perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
6-8 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust to peach sweetness)
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
2. In a large bowl, gently toss the sliced peaches with granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg until the peaches are evenly coated. Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish.
3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Evenly sprinkle the oat topping over the peach mixture in the baking dish.
5. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly and tender. If the topping browns too quickly, you can loosely cover it with foil.
6. Let the peach crisp cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. It’s wonderfully delicious warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Notes
For an extra touch of flavor, add a splash of vanilla extract or a tablespoon of lemon juice to the peach mixture.
If fresh peaches aren’t in season, you can use frozen sliced peaches. Thaw them slightly and drain any excess liquid before using.
This recipe is easily doubled for a larger crowd; just use a 9×13 inch baking dish.
